The villa is situated just outside the hamlet of Poulades in a delightful rural location with some relaxing walks for those interested in the fauna and flora of the island. The nearest beaches are some ten minutes away for those who prefer the excitement of water-skiing and para sailing or just lazing by the sea. Corfu Town, which has some fascinating architecture introduced by the Venetians, is just twenty minutes away. The shops museums and restaurants are well worth a visit, particularly in the evenings when the air is cooler.
The villa is ideally situated for those who want to explore the island. In the east, olive groves punctuated with cypress trees stretch down to unspoilt fishing villages like Kouloura. Discover picturesque coves such as Myrtiotissa, described by Lawrence Durrell as 'perhaps the loveliest beach in the world'. Dramatic mountains with pine trees dominate the sandy beaches of the west and a hike up Mount Pantokrator will reward you with a fantastic panorama from the island's highest point.
One of the best ways to enjoy the coastline and to reach an otherwise inaccessible bay is by boat. Take a picnic, plenty to drink, sunscreen and set off on a voyage of discovery. Corfu is great for families – it is safe and children will be spoiled by the locals and enjoy the freedom to play and explore. Visitors to the island will enjoy it far more if they have the freedom of having a hire car.
